Math Foundation Course for Secondary School Students

This course is designed to strengthen secondary school students’s math skills and build confidence before studies in the BSc in Economics and Business programme at SSE Riga.

Participation is free of charge, but due to the limited number of places, advance registration is required. Please note that priority will be given to Grade 12 students, and course attendance does not offer any advantage when applying to SSE Riga.

 

What does the Math Foundation course cover?

Session 1, February 23rd
Topic: Functions of one variable

Session 2, March 2nd
Topic: Introduction to differentiation

Session 3, March 9th
Topic: Introduction to integral calculus

Each session will consist of an hour long lecture followed by a seminar led by SSE Riga students.

 

Who delivers the course?

The course has been designed by the SSE Riga faculty, and it will be delivered by Nicolas Gavoille, who is an Assistant Professor at SSE Riga since 2015 and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Rennes 1, France.

At SSE Riga Nicolas Gavoille teaches BSc courses: Mathematics; Econometrics; Managerial Economics; Game Theory. 

 

Where does it take place?

The lectures in the Math Foundation take place in Soros Auditorium at SSE Riga, Strēlnieku 4a.

This is also a great opportunity to visit SSE Riga and get an idea of how it feels to be a student here.

 

Do I have to attend all classes?

Yes, you are advised to attend all scheduled sessions.
