The tournament attracted debaters from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the United Kingdom and Sweden. The SSE Riga community can be proud of our own debaters as well – with 12 SSE Riga teams participating, 2 of which managed to get into the silver finals!

The SSE Riga Debating Society was also glad to welcome two of the most prominent debaters from the UK and Lithuania - Alishba Irfan and Lukas Eigelis - to be the Chief Adjudicators of the tournament. This was particularly useful for the debaters, who benefited from professional feedback, which in turn will help them further advance their skills.

The topics debated in the tournament mainly covered issues on climate change - creating international courts to prosecute climate crimes; developing countries should prioritise their own agendas before committing to global climate policies. Also debated were topics on community involvement in art projects, the relationship between politics and religion, and different societies’ perceptions of career success.

Overall, the event achieved highly positive feedback from everyone involved.
