The workshop brought together stakeholders from EU and non-EU countries to explore statistical approaches to measuring undeclared work and informality, exchange good practices, and demonstrate why robust measurement is essential for policymaking.

On the second day, Professor Sauka delivered a presentation entitled “Linking academia, industry, media, and policy makers to measure and decrease the size of the shadow economy.” Drawing on the work of the Centre for Sustainable Business at SSE Riga, he shared experience in measuring the shadow economy and highlighted collaboration with policy makers and the media to translate research into practical action.

SSE Riga’s participation underscores the School’s role in international, policy-relevant research and its contribution to evidence-based discussions and the use of high-quality data for effective economic policy.
