Mini MBA in Innovation Management: First full cycle completed, 80 SME leaders trained
The first full cycle of the Mini MBA in Innovation Management, developed in partnership with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and SSE Riga, has successfully concluded. Over the past year, 80 SME innovation leaders from across Latvia’s RIS3 sectors have completed the programme through four training groups.
Designed to provide practical, immediately applicable innovation management skills, the 10-week programme brings together experienced faculty, hands-on workshops, and real business challenges submitted by participants.
Throughout the programme, participants strengthened their abilities in innovation leadership, customer-needs analysis, structured product development, and the use of AI tools in daily decision-making. Many highlight the programme’s structured and practical approach:
“We managed to introduce innovation processes in a much more structured way and with greater team involvement,” shared Zanda Ozola, Pupuchi.
“The biggest gain was learning to look at customer needs more broadly and focus on the core problem instead of jumping to solutions,” said Kaspars Zemītis, Twigex.
Several innovative ideas were developed during the training, including:
- a smart app to help parents plan activities with children,
- new home-rehabilitation tools using widely available technologies like Nintendo Switch,
- and a sustainable chocolate alternative made from locally grown beans.
The programme is implemented under the ERDF project “Support for the Development of Innovative Entrepreneurship for SMEs.”
Applications for the next Mini MBA in Innovation Management open on December 16.
