Anders Wall scholarship awarded to SSE Riga student developing new therapy for horses with joint disorders
Elīza Zariņa from Latvia has been awarded the Anders Wall Scholarship of SEK 150 000 for students at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga. The scholarship was presented at the Anders Wall Foundation ceremony in Stockholm on March 10.
During her studies, Elīza Zariņa founded Livet, a company developing a new non-invasive therapy form for horses suffering from musculoskeletal conditions affecting muscles and joints. An estimated one in three horses experiences some form of joint or muscle related disorder, but access to preventive treatment methods are limited.
Livet’s solution is based on targeted mechanical stimulation, a technology with origins in space research. Through carefully calibrated frequencies, the therapy stimulates joints and tissue at a depth of up to ten centimeters. The treatment is designed to replicate the body’s natural movement patterns and frequency variations to prevent and treat joint related problems without surgery or pharmaceuticals.
Together with a veterinary researcher and an engineer, Elīza is further developing the product with the ambition to patent. The next phase involves partnerships with rehabilitation centers, veterinary clinics, sport stables and private owners of working horses.
Alongside her studies and work with Livet, Elīza is engaged in several organizations focusing on animal welfare and animal rights.
The Anders Wall Scholarship at SSE Riga is awarded to students who demonstrate outstanding entrepreneurial ability and the potential to contribute to business and society in the Baltic region and internationally.
