At the beginning of the conversation, President Levits outlined his version of what it takes to be a good leader and what skills are required to become one.

As the President underlined: "A leader (and also any other individual) must be self-confident, but not 100%, as then the humanity in relations with others will be lost." The President also emphasized that it is possible to develop leadership skills and congratulated the participants on their decision to engage in the project in order to train their leadership talent.

As the conversation continued, participants discussed topics related to active citizenship, migration, and the role of solidarity in a democratic society.

This is the fourth year that SSE Riga has organized the "Future Leaders Academy.” The programme is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden in Latvia with support from the Swedish Institute.

The aim of the programme is to educate, inspire and develop the leadership potential of future Latvian political and community leaders and to provide them with an opportunity to meet like-minded peers to develop their contact network. Motivated young people aged 18 to 27 are selected to participate in the programme.
