Australia is burning, youth activists are having climate strikes, and it is forecasted that there will be more plastic than fish in the world's oceans by 2050. Does it have anything to do with the financial industry?

Recently investing according to sustainability criteria has become mainstream, and regulators are starting to regulate sustainable finance practices. Stakeholders are asking for corporate disclosure regarding ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) issues, and companies are declaring climate neutrality. The Guest lecture will give overview of what is sustainable finance, on how company’s sustainability practices are linked to financial performance as well as the development in regulatory environment.

Evija Tambaka has graduated from SSE Riga and later received MSc in Sustainable Finance. She has gained professional experience in investment and data analysis as well as corporate sustainability and governance. Currently she is working in asset management and developing sustainable finance practices in Latvia.
