Closing Network Event: Ukrainian Displaced People’s Inclusion in Europe

Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Europe received over six million displaced people. While initial responses were developed under emergency conditions, longer-term questions have since emerged:

• how people move from arrival to work, education, and stable routines;
• where integration systems fall short;
• and what countries can learn from each other despite differences in labour markets, institutions, and languages.

About the project – Ukrainian Diaspora Integration

In 2024/25, the project established a European network involving researchers, policymakers, and the business community, with the active participation of Ukrainian displaced people. Through regular roundtables, shared information, and joint discussions, the network identified gaps in integration support, compared national approaches, and extracted practical lessons.

The project is grounded in structured dialogue, direct involvement of displaced people, and a multi-stakeholder approach. Its outcomes are documented in reports and policy briefs, contributing to more sustainable support for people displaced by the ongoing war.
