A key aspect of this mission is reflected in our latest initiative, the SSE Riga Business Lab, a collaboration with Stockholm that introduces the renowned ‘Unicorn Factory’ startup incubator to Riga. This marks one of SSE Riga's most significant milestones for 2024, with the first cohort of student entrepreneurs set to join the programme in early 2025.

Key achievements in 2024 also include:

  • 200 students completing two practical entrepreneurship courses.
  • 35+ student-led projects developed.
  • 24+ entrepreneurs engaging with students through educational and extracurricular activities.
  • 6 fireside chats with entrepreneurs from Latvia and beyond, discussing topics such as entrepreneurial mindset, fundraising, scaling, and culture development.
  • 50+ participants in a networking and matchmaking event for deep tech entrepreneurs, as part of an international project on deep tech entrepreneurship.
  • 10 000 EUR awarded to a student with a promising entrepreneurship project, through the prestigious Anders Wall Scholarship.

Dmitrijs Kravčenko, Entrepreneurship Course Director and Associate Professor, commented: “While our size remains boutique, we are proud to see SSE Riga graduates making a significant impact in the ecosystem. However, we believe there is still much more to achieve. In 2025 and beyond, we must continue to push for greater ambition, boldness, and resilience. Although Latvian startups show great potential, the need for critical mass and a strong social identity remains a priority.”

SSE Riga’s efforts align closely with the insights and recommendations highlighted in the Latvian Startup Association Startup Report 2024.
