Open Workshop: Publishing in Top (Management) Journals — Recommendations and Suggestions

The aim of the Open Workshop Series in Business and Management Studies is to promote top-quality academic and applied research in various fields of the social sciences. This is a unique opportunity for sharing knowledge and networking with local and international community members.
Speaker: Professor Markus Pudelko, Tübingen University School of Business and Economics, Germany
This workshop provides recommendations and suggestions to consider when aiming to publish in top tier (management) journals. Among the aspects to be discussed are: publication strategies for junior academics; mentors, co-operations and co-authors; participation in international conferences and workshops; journal rankings; selection of journals; what it takes to publish in a top tier journal; how to set up a paper for publication; check list for the requirements for each section of a journal article; and the review process.

Professor Markus Pudelko is Director of the Department of International Business at Tübingen University School of Business and Economics. He earned Master degrees in Business Studies (University of Cologne), Economics (Sorbonne University) and International Management (Community of European Management Schools - CEMS) and a PhD (University of Cologne). Before joining Tübingen University, he worked for eight years for the University of Edinburgh Business School. For longer-term research purposes, he visits frequently other universities, such as Columbia University, Copenhagen Business School, Doshisha University, Dubai University, EAFIT, ESCP, Estonian Business School, Fudan University, Hebrew University Jerusalem, IESE, ISEG, Korea University, Mahidol University, Melbourne University, Peking University, San Francisco de Quito University, San José State University, Simon Fraser University, Sofia University, Sophia University, Stellenbosch University, Sydney University, Umea University, Universidad Católica Argentina, University of Lisboa, Vaasa University, Vietnam National University and Waseda University.
His current research focuses on multinational individuals and teams, the impact of language on international business, trust, international HRM, Chinese and Japanese management and cross-cultural management. He has published on these topics in books, book chapters and journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of World Business, and Leadership Quarterly. He has received over 40 research awards, among others from the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. Currently, he is senior editor of the Journal of World Business and on the editorial board of more than ten other journals.
