The first module, devoted to leadership, featured Mark Lee Hunter, the director of the programme and an adjunct professor at INSEAD, and Peter Zashev, a consultant, trainer and SSE Riga adjunct professor who is a source of insight on emerging markets as well as humour comparable only to that of the NBC Saturday Night Live Show. Meanwhile, Stephan Haensh, with his prolific yet playful way of explaining the importance of project management, delved into teamwork, SCRUM, and the pitfalls of managing the newsroom.

The participants had the chance to visit DELFI.lv, and one of them, Konstantins Kuzikovs, the chairman of the board at DELFI.lv, presented DELFI’s business canvas in the work settings.

“I have not had such an intensive study week in years, and I enjoyed it so much!” says Mariya from Kazakhstan.

“It’s been such a great and insightful week, can’t wait for more,” shares Semen Kvasha from Russia.

The participants worked continuously on the business model for their project during the module. But this was just a start.

The next modules will cover finance, strategy and marketing. The participants will have a unique chance to pitch their own business ideas to a panel of investors later on in the study year.

The programme is organized by the Centre for Media Studies at SSE Riga and funded by the Swedish Institute.
