SSE Riga is organising a practical "Math Foundation Course" which is designed for high school students and aims at building a bridge between high school maths and university level maths.

The course sessions will be held three Saturdays in a row (10:00-12:00), on February 11, 18, and 25 at SSE Riga. The course is free of charge, however, prior registration is necessary.

Each session consists of 2 parts: a one-hour lecture led by Associate Professor Nicolas Gavoille, and then a one-hour seminar led by an actual SSE Riga student. In other words, one part with theory, one part with exercises to solve. The topics of the three sessions: 1) differentiation, 2) optimization, 3) integral calculus. 


Who delivers the course?

The course has been designed by the SSE Riga faculty, and it will be delivered by Nicolas Gavoille, who is an  Associate Professor at SSE Riga since 2015 and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Rennes 1, France. At SSE Riga Nicolas Gavoille teaches BSc courses: Mathematics; Econometrics; Economic Specialisation; Game Theory.


Where does it take place?

The lectures in the Math Foundation will take place on-site at SSE Riga, Strēlnieku 4a. Registered participants will receive a reminder and instructions in their emails.


Do I have to participate in all the lectures?

Yes, you are advised to take part in all scheduled lectures. Only students taking part in all three lectures will receive a Certificate of participation.
