Tuition Fee & Financial Aid
Tuition Fee & Financial Aid
SSE Riga's tuition fee in the Bachelor programme is EUR 6,250 per year or EUR 4,150 per year for students from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia.
Tuition is fixed for all three years and is set at the tuition rate at the time a student enrols in the programme. What is important - at SSE Riga there are no hidden costs. Once you are SSE Riga student you get all books, study materials and online databases without extra charge. Even Office 365 and an online subscription to the Financial Times to every student at SSE Riga is for free.
However, the ability to attend SSE Riga does not depend on the student's financial situation – the majority of SSE Riga students receive significant financial aid.
Please read about the various options of financial aid below.
Tuition fee waivers for Baltic students
The tuition fee waiver reduces the tuition fee from EUR 6,250 to EUR 4,150 per year. Tuition fee waivers will be granted to all admitted students from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia.

Alumni Admissions Scholarships
These scholarships are provided by alumni and awarded based on admissions results. Ten Year 1 students will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship of covering 50% of the tuition fee in the first year. The scholarship is awarded based on results during the admissions process (secondary school grades, extracurricular activities, admissions tests and interviews). Application for these scholarships will be part of the SSE Riga admissions application, and scholarship award decisions will be announced to the applicants together with the admissions offer.
During their first year of studies, all Year 1 students can apply for a merit-based scholarship. Each scholarship candidate will be paired with an alumni mentor. After the first study year, an interview process will take place, and top-performing applicants will receive a scholarship. The evaluation criteria are based on academic performance (60%), extracurricular activities (30%) and personal development according to the mentor's feedback (10%).
Any student at SSE Riga can apply for the needs-based scholarship. Students applying for this scholarship must meet the academic requirements and should be able to prove the hardship circumstances, including but not limited to such as low income / single parent / multi-sibling family.
SEB – SSE Riga Loan Programme
Since SSE Riga believe in the potential of the students, the School offers a loan programme guaranteed by the School – which means no need to have parents or relatives to sign it.
SSE Riga has a cooperation agreement with AS SEB Banka in Latvia that gives students an opportunity to get a loan from SEB on favorable terms. Loans are available to students (aged 18+) from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and Russia. The loan is guaranteed by SSE Riga, and the maximum amount of the loan for 3 year studies at SSE Riga Bachelor Programme is the total amount of the three years’ tuition fee.
The application form for the SEB loan guaranteed by the School is available in the e-learning platform at elearning.sseriga.edu (under Student Support – Announcements, section “Financial Aid Information”).
Latvian State Guaranteed Student Loans
The amount of tuition not covered by any other sources can be financed through loans – students who take out loans typically repay them comfortably within 7 years.
Currently a new State Guaranteed Student Loan system for the new academic year is being developed. According to the new Cabinet of Ministers Regulations the citizens and non-citizens of Latvia, citizens of the EU, citizens of the European Economic Area, citizens of the Swiss Confederation and permanent residents of the European Community, who have a valid residence permit, will be able to apply for a Latvian State Guaranteed Loan. State Guaranteed Loans offer the best terms and flexibility with regard to repayment of the loan. Students will be able to choose between two options: a Study Loan (to cover the tuition fee) and a Student Loan (for daily expenses). More precise information and instructions will follow as soon it will be available from the banks and/or State authorities.
The application form for the Latvian State Guaranteed Loan students can fill out during their first weeks of studies. The SSE Riga Student Credit Committee will review the student loan applications and confirm the status of the applicants to the issuing bank.
Students are also encouraged to explore state-supported study loans in their home countries as well as student exchange agreements concluded between their countries and Latvia.
Latvian State Scholarships for Foreign Students
In accordance with the bilateral agreements on co-operation in education and science concluded between the Latvian government and foreign governments, Latvia offers scholarships to foreign students for studies in the Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs).
Applications for the bachelor degree scholarships are accepted from the students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies (at their home HEI or at a Latvian HEI, if they already have been studying in Latvia) at the moment of application.
The bachelor degree scholarships amount to EUR 500/ per month.
