SSE Riga Shadow Economy Index for the Baltic countries

The aim of the SSE Riga "Shadow Economy Index" for the Baltic countries is to measure the size of the shadow economies in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, as well as to explore the main factors that influence participation in the shadow economy.

The SSE Riga “Shadow Economy Index” for the Baltic countries draws on a survey of companies’ owners/managers, conducted in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia from March to April, 2011.

The index is estimated in cooperation with the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (www.ecsb.org) and is intended to be published annually to provide policy makers with information for making justified policy decisions, as well as to foster a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship processes in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
