15:00 - 17:00 Friday 21/04/2017

SSE Riga, Strelnieku 4a, Room 507

Speaker: Prof. Robert Davison,City University of Hong Kong

"In this seminar, I aim to open up the black box of publishing from the perspective of an Editor in Chief of two very different journals so that researchers (in particular PhD students) have a better idea of the expectations of journals and journal editors. My fundamental purpose is to encourage the undertaking and writing of high quality, publishable, consumable research. In order to do this, I will highlight some key attributes of good – and less good – research. I will also provide insights into what editors (and reviewers) think – what they are (not) looking for. The lessons learned in the seminar should help you increase the probability that your research will be published."

Robert Davison is a Professor of Information Systems at the City University of Hong Kong. His current research focuses on virtual Knowledge Management and Collaboration in Chinese firms, often from an interpretivist perspective and with qualitative methods such as case studies and action research. He has published over 200 articles in a variety of journals and conferences, and his work has been cited in excess of 5000 times (H=39). Robert is the Editor-in-Chief of the Information Systems Journal and the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries. More:
