The Class of 2017 receive diplomas
The SSE Riga Graduation Ceremony 2017 was held on June 3rd at Riga Congress Hall with an audience of approximately 900 guests. Grey clouds that had been present for most of the week finally parted, allowing the sun to shine bright on the Class of 2017.
On Saturday afternoon Bachelor and Executive MBA students proudly walked across the stage to receive their SSE Riga diplomas in front of staff, faculty, family and friends, who applauded their hard work and dedication over the last few years.
This year Bachelor of Science diplomas were awarded to 106 graduates from Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and Russia, while Executive Master of Business Administration diplomas were awarded to 28 graduates from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Belgium, Canada, Singapore, Ukraine and Russia.
The Ceremony was opened by Rector Anders Paalzow, who stressed that the accomplishments of graduates sitting on the stage that day must be shared by their parents and loved ones, who had supported and encouraged them as they pursued their education at SSE Riga.
Graduates were addressed by Senior Executive Vice President of the Stockholm School of Economics (in Stockholm) Lars Ågren, His Excellency Ambassador of Sweden to Latvia Henrik Landerholm and President of the Alumni Association Māris Simanovičs. All speakers urged graduates to carry on the values – Integrity, Community, Excellence – they had learned during their time at SSE Riga in their future lives and careers. The Ceremony was closed by the SSE Riga Mixed Choir’s emotional performance.
