SSE Riga students won first place in the marketing competition “Creative Shock”
SSE Riga students once again proved the value of their education while competing in student competitions. The team “99%” (Aistė Virkutytė, Marius Miškinis and Paulius Jurgutis) from SSE Riga participated in and won first place in the marketing competition “Creative Shock”, which was organised for the first time by ISM University in Vilnius. More than 180 students from 14 universities participated in the competition.
To earn the opportunity to compete in the finals of the competition, teams had to solve a case study about a Lithuanian digital TV provider, and to also create a social marketing campaign for a non-profit. The SSE Riga team was consistent in their performance and took first place both in the preliminary and the final rounds.
The final stage of the competition took place on December 3rdin Vilnius, Lithuania. Participants had 2.5 hours to solve a case study prepared by the Lithuanian Marketing Association, and had to come up with a marketing and communication strategy for maximizing non-aviation revenues for
Vilnius International Airport. The panel of judges consisted of nine experienced marketing and public relations experts from Lithuania.
As the main prize, the team won a business lunch with Ilja Laurs, the founder and CEO of GetJar, the world’s largest open mobile application store. Among other honours, Ilja Laurs has been recognized as the “European Manager of the Year 2011” by the European Business Press Association; one of the “25 European Tech Leaders” by the Wall Street Journal; and “Technology Pioneer 2011” by the World Economic Forum.
