SSE Riga Signs the Charter of the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association
On June 13th2012 SSE Riga together with more than ten other members of the Latvian Information and Communications Technology Association (LIKTA) joined the LIKTA Charter.
The signing ceremony was opened by the President of LIKTA, Signe Balina, who stressed that the aim of this Charter is to set clear and measurable tasks for efficient information and communications technology (ICT) integration to create and build a modern information society in Latvia and to set 6 target directions and determine an exact time period for implementation – 5 years. The six main target directions are as follows:
- Equipped E-citizen
- Smart E-citizen
- Modern E-governance in Europe
- Competitive business environment
- Active welfare
- Easily reachable cultural heritage
On behalf of SSE Riga the Rector Anders Paalzow signed the Charter, and Juris Binde, President of Latvian Mobile Telephone (LMT), Vitalijs Gavrilovs, President of the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia (LDDK), and Marcis Auzins, Rector of the University of Latvia, were also among those who signed this document, which is of considerable national importance.
After the signing of the Charter the floor was opened for a panel discussion on the main tasks and steps for reaching the targets mentioned in the Charter in the most efficient way.
