The 13thof December, 2011 was the last training day of the pilot course for owner-managers of small creative companies, organized with the CREAENT (Creative Entrepreneurs Training Network) project.  Twenty-four representatives of various industries (from fashion to digital design, and from architecture to museums) took part in the pilot course that ran from May till December of 2011.

During the course, participants learned about starting a successful creative company, explored tricks of partisan marketing, and studied the opportunities offered and the difficulties encountered in export markets. They learned how to motivate their team with limited resources, and what a company manager should know about financial management. They presented their ideas to other group members, mastered the best presentation techniques, and learned about intellectual property rights (one of the most important issues in any creative industry). The pilot course ended with a module on strategic management.

The participants highly appreciated both the content of the course and the combination of an academic approach and the practical experience offered by the lecturers of the different modules. The evaluation seminar for the course will take place in January of 2012, to learn more about how the pilot course was perceived and whether or not, and how, a new course could be developed at SSE Riga based on this experience.
