ELKO awards scholarships to the best students in the Accounting & Finance course
As the study year comes to an end, we proudly and publicly honour our best students! Today ELKO Group, which is one of the region's largest distributors of IT products and solutions, rewarded the best students in the very demanding Accounting & Finance course, which is led by Associate Professor Anete Pajuste.
Eugeniu Papuha (Moldova) scored the best result in the course exam and was awarded a 1000 EUR scholarship.
The authors of the best study paper in the course, Danija Marta Azarova, Katsiaryna Permiakova, Elza Siliņa, and Palina Tambere, will share a 1000 EUR scholarship.
The awards were presented in the presence of an ELKO representative who explained their motivation to support SSE Riga’s brightest students:
“First, ELKO’s business has an emphasis on finance and risk management, and distribution is capital-intensive. With our high turnover, low margins, high risks, utilization of multiple currencies, suppliers from all over the world, and business presence in 30 countries in Europe and Central Asia, we undertake to assert that ELKO has the most widely used range of financial instruments in the Baltics. This requires professionals who are the best of the best.
Second, many SSE Riga alumni work at ELKO. Just to give you an idea, 3 of the 5 Board Members are SSE Riga alumni. Considering the great performance of the ELKO Group, this says something about SSE Riga as well. We trust in the quality of education at SSE Riga and the capabilities of its alumni.
All in all, this contributes to our motivation to engage with SSE Riga students at an early stage and to invest in their further development into first class professionals. We are confident in this investment and look forward to reaping the benefits soon – through partnerships, improvements in the business environment or, in the best case, by employing new talent.”
Congratulations to the winners, and we would like to express our appreciation to ELKO Group for this generous support!
