Dr Arnis Sauka receives an award from the State Revenue Service for advocating against the shadow economy
At the beginning of April, the State Revenue Service published a list of the largest taxpayers of 2017 and, during a special ceremony, presented the annual awards to these taxpayers. SSE Riga Associate Professor Arnis Sauka received an award as the best cooperation partner of the State Revenue Service in 2017.
Since 2009, Dr Arnis Sauka (pictured) has measured the “Shadow Economy Index for the Baltic Countries” annually and has frequently spoken in the media about this topic.
The aim of the Index is to measure the size of the shadow economies in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia as well as to explore the main factors that influence participation in the shadow economy. The SSE Riga Shadow Economy Index is commissioned by the Centre for Sustainable Business at SSE Riga.
The results of the latest Index will be announced during the 8th annual conference “The Shadow Economy in Latvia” on May 16th
