Admission Process in 2012

SSE Riga runs a three-step selection process: Assessment of satisfactory fulfillment of eligibility criteria, the SSE Riga Admissions Test, and interviews.

The Admissions Procedure is free of charge, with the aim of selecting the most talented students to study in the BSc in Economics and Business programme. Every student admitted to SSE Riga can receive financial support if needed. There are grants programmes and loans at favorable conditions available to cover tuition fees and living costs.

To Begin: Check Eligibility

Note that to be eligible to apply to SSE Riga, a candidate must meet
the formal requirements

  • A secondary school education completed by July 2012 or earlier.
  • Minimum grades in Mathematics and English: 7 on a scale of 10, or equivalent on a comparable scale.
  • State examination results in Mathematics and English are required for candidates who completed their secondary education in 2011, or will complete it in 2012 in Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania.

All applicants who fulfil the formal entry requirements are welcome to submit an

Step 1: Fill In the On-line Application

December 5, 2011 - April 2, 2012
The application period has ended.

You will have the option to begin your application and then complete it at a later date. Note that only fully-completed forms will be considered for the next step
in the selection process.

You will be asked to provide:

  • Personal info, contact information.
  • Grade Point Average (GPA), grades in Mathematics and English.
    Candidates who will complete their secondary education by July of 2012 will provide information on their academic performance (grades in Mathematics and English and overall grade point average) for the first semester of the academic year 2011/2012.
  • For Baltic candidates, State exam confirmation or results.
  • A statement of purpose (400 words).

  • Evidence of work experience, achievements, extracurricular activities
  • Enclosures must be uploaded – grade transcript, passport copy, diplomas, certificates etc.

On-line application forms will be reviewed, and applicants who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria will be selected for the SSE Riga Admissions Test.

  

Step 2: Take the SSE Riga Admissions Test

 on Saturday, April 21, 2012

It consists of the following: Logical aptitude tests, English language tests, and mathematics. The tests aim to evaluate analytical and critical thinking skills. All tests are in English. To take the tests, applicants should have a pen, a pencil and an eraser; no other materials are allowed. The tests will take place in Riga, Chisinau, Kiev, Minsk, and Tbilisi. Applicants will be informed about the testing location by e-mail.

Results: All candidates invited for an interview will be informed by e-mail on Friday, April 27, 2012. 

    

Step 3: Come to the Interview

May 12-20, 2012

Approximately 200 of the top-performing candidates, according to
the SSE Riga Admissions Test results, will be selected for interviews.

The top 125 candidates will be selected to study at SSE Riga. The final results will be sent to selected candidates by e-mail on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.


 Candidates from Baltic countries who will graduate by July, 2012 will receive conditional acceptance after the Admissions Committee receives and evaluates the State Exam results in Mathematics and English from the testing centers in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn.

Candidates from other countries who will graduate by July, 2012 will receive conditional acceptance after the Admissions Committee receives documentation confirming the completion of secondary school-level education and the final grade transcript.

All candidates from countries for which a residence permit is required to stay in Latvia for periods over 90 days will be asked to confirm their placement by Tuesday, May 29, 2012 in order to start the residence permit process.

      

Registration and Matriculation

Register by August 10, 2012
Matriculation will finish on August 17, 2012

To become a student of SSE Riga, an accepted candidate should register by August 10, 2012 and present originals and submit copies of the following documents:

  • Secondary school diploma.
  • Grade transcript.
  • State examination certificates.

If a candidate does not register for studies on time, the Admissions Committee has the right to invite the next candidate from the reserve list. Matriculation will finish on August 17, 2012.

         

Start your Studies

The new academic year begins on August 20, 2012.
